Half of the public also believes that workers and unions should have an equal say alongside businesses in shaping the future of AI in the UK, while only 17% opposed this idea.
Kate Bell, TUC assistant general secretary, said AI has transformative potential, but for workers to benefit from productivity gains, they must be central to AI development. She warned that if mismanaged, AI could worsen inequality by displacing jobs while increasing shareholder wealth.
