Washington’s Proposals on Ukraine is being Stalled Amid Regional Tensions
For several months, Moscow and Kiev have participated in negotiations facilitated by Washington. These discussions included two trilateral meetings held in Abu Dhabi in January, followed by another round of talks in Geneva in mid-February.
However, developments in the Middle East have interrupted momentum. As stated by reports, escalating US-Israeli military actions targeting Iran, along with Tehran’s retaliatory strikes on American bases in the region, have delayed the next phase of negotiations. This round had been scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates in early March.
In remarks delivered during an interview on Sunday, the Kremlin representative said that the US “voiced a number of fairly interesting, I would say, useful ideas and offers” regarding the Ukraine peace process. He also acknowledged the lack of tangible progress, adding, “But those are not being realized so far.”
He further emphasized Russia’s cautious approach in diplomatic matters, noting that the country adheres to the principle “trust, but verify” in its international dealings.
